Nigerian U-23 sensation, Olawatimilehin Abiodun Ogunniyi, showcased his brilliance with a stunning goal that propelled FK Auda to a resounding victory over FS Metta in the Latvian Virsliga.
Ogunniyi, the 21-year-old Nigerian star, notched his sixth league goal of the season during their 29th matchday showdown, as FK Auda dominated Metta with a 3-1 triumph on a Friday evening.
The game kicked off strongly, with three goals lighting up the first half.
Futbola Klubs Auda, the home team, wasted no time and opened the scoring just 10 minutes into the game, thanks to Reginaldo Ramires’ expertly taken penalty that sent the home fans into a frenzy.
However, FK Metta responded swiftly, leveling the score 16 minutes later with Lukass Vapne’s goal.
But the youngster from Nigerian reclaimed the lead back for FK Auda in the 37th minute with a fantastic goal before halftime.
The second half continued to favor FK Auda, as Reginaldo Ramires struck again to complete his brace, sealing the three points with a 3-1 victory after the final whistle blew.
Despite playing the entire 90 minutes and taking more than six shots, the Nigerian forward found the net just once.
Ogunniyi’s goal against Metta brings his total to eight goals and assists combined in all competitions for FK Auda, highlighting his invaluable contribution.
This win leaves FK Auda sitting comfortably in 3rd place in the Latvian Higher League, boasting 49 points from 29 matches, while their opponents, FS Metta, remain in 7th place with 29 points.
Looking ahead, Abiodun and his teammates will embark on a journey to Valmiera on Sunday, aiming to extend their winning streak.
Following that, they face a formidable clash against the league leaders, Riga, in what promises to be an exciting showdown.
