Abdulraheem Shola applauds teamwork in Kwara United’s gritty win
Kwara United edged past Nasarawa United with a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to a 64th-minute strike from Lawal Abayomi.
The result lifted the Harmony Boys to 10th place in the league standings with 42 points, while their opponents remain in 17th place with 36 points.
Reflecting on the game, Shola praised his teammates for their resilience and dedication.
“Victory is sweet! We gave it our all and came out on top!” he wrote on his X platform. “Huge shoutout to my brothers on the pitch for their hard work and dedication. And to our fans, your cheers and chants fuel our fire.”
However, not everyone shared in the joy. Nasarawa United’s head coach, Salisu Yusuf, lamented his team’s missed opportunities.
“We played well and gave them a tough game. We should have won,” he said. Despite the setback, Yusuf remains optimistic, vowing to use the defeat as motivation for upcoming fixtures.
Kwara United bags N1m reward for determined performance
Kwara United’s determination on matchday 31 didn’t go unnoticed. In recognition of their efforts, the team received a cash reward of N1m from club supporter Bashorun Kayode Bankole.
The gesture served as an added morale boost as the Harmony Boys now turn their focus to their upcoming clash against Plateau United.
Meanwhile, Nasarawa United will aim to bounce back when they host Akwa United on April 6.
With both teams hungry for points, the battle for NPFL survival is far from over.
