Meanwhile, at Celtic Park, Kelechi Iheanacho endured more VAR heartbreak as Celtic suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Braga.

Handed his second consecutive start of the season, Iheanacho thought he had equalised early in the second half after pouncing on a loose backpass and finishing coolly past Lukáš Horníček, only for the goal to be chalked off for handball.

The Nigerian forward’s lively movement and pressing unsettled Braga’s defence, but he lacked the decisive moment to turn Celtic’s pressure into goals.

Ricardo Horta’s spectacular long-range opener and a late scrappy effort from Gabri Martínez sealed the win for the Portuguese side.
