Remo Stars finally grabbed the elusive Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title after years of heartbreak, and head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has revealed the secret behind their emotional success.

On Sunday at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, the Sky Blue Stars secured a dramatic 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes to seal their first-ever NPFL title, Footballrover reports.

Having finished second in the past two seasons, Ogunmodede, who has spent a decade at Remo Stars, said the journey was a test of patience, resilience, and deep-rooted belief.

“I arrived at this club in 2015. I have spent 10 years at the club now. Six years as an assistant coach as well as director of football and the last four years as the head coach. We were second for two consecutive years, and we are champions now. I’m so elated,” he told the club’s media.

Solid structure key to Remo Stars’ NPFL title victory

The coach praised the club’s president, Kunle Soname, whose birthday coincided with the historic win.

Ogunmodede stressed that Soname’s massive investment and patience laid the foundation for their NPFL title success.

“To win the title on his birthday is a big motivation for us. It’s good to see his investment finally yield positive results and his patience with me on the technical aspect,” he added.

Beyond emotional motivations, Ogunmodede revealed that building a solid structure and learning from previous near misses powered Remo over the finish line this season.

Looking ahead, Ogunmodede made it clear that the team is hungry for more.

As they prepare for the CAF Champions League, he vowed they would not settle.

“We always want to be one step ahead of our rivals; we can’t afford to rest for now. We want to win more,” he declared.

For Ikenne boys, the NPFL trophy is just the beginning of a bigger dream.
