Super Falcons defender Glory Ogbonna has officially announced her departure from Turkish club Besiktas, leaving many to wonder about her next move.
This talented centre-back, known for her powerful presence on the pitch, is now looking for a new challenge after two years with the Istanbul giants, Footballrover reports.
Glory Ogbonna’s goal-filled stint at Besiktas
While her time with Besiktas was relatively short, Ogbonna certainly made an impact.
Joining in 2023 as a free agent from fellow Turkish club ALG Spor, she could only feature in four games.
However, in those limited appearances, she incredibly found the back of the net three times – a remarkable goal-scoring record for a defender!
Ogbonna recently took to social media to share her gratitude, thanking her teammates, the club, and the loyal supporters for making her feel at home during her stay in Istanbul.
Her heartfelt message highlighted the “love” she felt, wishing Besiktas a wonderful season ahead.
She wrote:
“I just want to use this medium to appreciate this wonderful club for how they made me feel at home during my three years’ stay with them. I want to thank my teammates, technical team, board members and the fans for their support both in good and in bad times. You all always make sure that love leads. Thank you all, and I wish the club a wonderful season from now onwards. One love, Beşiktaş ❤️🦅🦅🦅”
What’s next for Ogbonna?
At 26 years old, Ogbonna has already built a solid career, starting with Edo Queens in Nigeria in 2019.
She has also played in Sweden for Umeå and in Spain for Santa Teresa, displaying her diverse experience across European leagues.
With her departure from the Turkish side, it’s now left to be seen where the formidable Super Falcons defender takes her talents next.
