The Nigerian forward came off the bench to deliver a decisive strike in stoppage time, putting the seal on an impressive away victory for the Tricky Trees, Footballrover reports.

This long-awaited goal not only marked a personal milestone for Awoniyi but also highlighted his resilience after an injury-riddled spell.

And while the 27-year-old Nigerian international must have had a fun-filled day with his first goal in 15 games this season, his fellow countryman, Ola Aina, also impressed in Forest’s away league victory.

Forest started the match in blistering fashion, racing to a 1-0 lead within seven minutes through a clinical counterattack.

Former Wolves player Morgan Gibbs-White orchestrated the opener, linking up with Anthony Elanga to silence the hostile Molineux crowd.

Despite Wolves’ spirited attempts to equalize, poor finishing and stellar goalkeeping from Matz Sels kept the home side at bay.

The visitors doubled their advantage just before halftime. Callum Hudson-Odoi broke into the box on another counterattack and set up Chris Wood for his 12th Premier League goal of the season.

Forest’s impeccable game management in the second half ensured Wolves never gained a foothold, even as the hosts ramped up pressure.

Awoniyi then made his mark in stoppage time, combining with James Ward-Prowse to convert a simple chance into an empty net, sealing Forest’s sixth consecutive league win.

This triumph propelled the Reds to 40 points, level with second-placed Arsenal on goal difference.

Wolves struggle under new leadership

For Wolves, the loss was a sobering reality check under new manager Vítor Pereira, who remains winless against top-tier opposition.

The defeat leaves Wolves teetering just above the relegation zone on goal difference, with tougher fixtures looming on the horizon.

As Nottingham Forest continue to thrive, Taiwo Awoniyi’s return to form offers a major boost to their campaign.

His 324-day goal drought is now behind him, and fans will be eager to see what the rest of the season holds for the Nigerian star.
