Rivers United FC has issued a stern warning to football clubs around the world regarding the contractual status of their player, Andy Okpe.
Despite the player’s unapproved absence and unclear whereabouts, the Port Harcourt-based club insists that Okpe remains under a binding contract until 2027, leaving no room for transfer or negotiation without their consent.

In an official statement, the Pride of Rivers reiterated that Andy Okpe’s contractual obligations remain intact despite his recent disappearance.
The club has made it clear that they have not authorised the player’s release or any discussions regarding his availability for transfer.
The club cautioned all stakeholders, including football clubs, agents, and intermediaries, to refrain from engaging in unauthorized dealings with Okpe.
The Garden City side emphasised that any violation of this directive could lead to serious consequences, such as regulatory actions from FIFA or potential legal proceedings.
NFF and stakeholders put on notice
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has also been formally notified of the situation, according to the club.
The NPFL giants has called on the NFF to ensure that any potential transfer or registration of Andy Okpe adheres strictly to the rules and includes the club’s prior authorisation.
Reaffirming their stance, the club stressed its commitment to protecting the integrity of contractual agreements in Nigerian football.
