The Super Falcons of Nigeria displayed their dominance in a resounding 5-0 win against Cape Verde during the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture in Abuja.
Uchenna Kanu’s early goals and Esther Okoronkwo’s impactful performance secured a commanding lead for the nine-time African champions, solidifying their spot in the upcoming finals in Morocco next summer.

However, Kanu capitalized on a goalmouth scramble from a corner kick, scoring the opener past Cape Verde’s goalkeeper, Jacinta Rodrigues.
Rodrigues denied Rasheedat Ajibade’s shot shortly after. Despite attempts from Borges and Payne for Cape Verde, Gift Monday doubled the host’s lead in the 25th minute.
The first half saw Deborah Abiodun put out a solid midfield artistry and WOTM performance, with Kanu securing her brace just before halftime.
