Southampton have made a last-minute move in the January transfer window, securing a promising young forward, Victor Udoh, to bolster their ranks.
The English club, currently fighting to stay in the Premier League, has added another Nigerian talent to their squad, Footballrover reports.
Southampton seals Victor Udoh’s transfer from Royal Antwerp
The Premier League side has officially signed the 20-year-old Nigerian striker from Belgian club Royal Antwerp.
The Saints announced the deal on deadline day, confirming that Udoh will initially join their U21 squad before pushing for a first-team breakthrough.
Udoh arrives on a three-and-a-half-year contract, pending international clearance.
He joins compatriots Paul Onuachu and Joe Aribo at St Mary’s as the club battles relegation.
Why the Saints moved for Victor
Udoh has been a standout performer for Antwerp’s second team, scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances last season.
He also featured in 28 senior matches for the Belgian top-flight club after joining from Abuja-based Hypebuzz FC in 2023.
The move by the club to recruit the Nigerian signals faith in Udoh’s potential, as they seek young attacking reinforcements.
The Nigerian forward will now aim to develop within the U21 setup before making his mark in the senior squad.
With his arrival, Udoh strengthens the Saints’ Nigerian connection, linking up with the Super Eagles duo in a crucial survival fight.
