Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has offered insight into his potential return from injury, just days after his latest setback dealt a blow to the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign against Libya.
The 25-year-old forward was forced off during Galatasaray’s Super Lig match against Kasımpaşa on September 28 after scoring twice in the first half—his first goals for the Turkish side, Footballrover reports.
Despite leading comfortably, Galatasaray saw their advantage slip away after Osimhen’s departure, with the game ending 3-3.
Osimhen signalled to the bench for a substitution after experiencing discomfort in his leg, prompting his replacement by Dries Mertens.

The Super Eagles star later reassured fans, downplaying the seriousness of the issue.
However, Galatasaray soon confirmed the striker’s injury with a detailed statement.
Galatasaray confirms muscle injury
Osimhen’s club revealed that he suffered a strain and minor bleeding in his left posterior muscle, ruling him out of their upcoming UEFA Europa League clash against Rigas FC and a critical Super Lig match with Alanyaspor.
His absence also casts doubt on his availability for Nigeria’s AFCON qualifiers against Libya, scheduled for October 11 and 15.
The injury, although not severe, has triggered concerns about Nigeria’s attack heading into these crucial qualifiers. Still, Osimhen remains optimistic about his recovery.
In a video circulating on social media, the Napoli ex-striker hinted at a possible timeline for his return.
When asked about his recovery, Osimhen calmly responded, “After the international break,” offering hope to both Galatasaray and Super Eagles fans awaiting his comeback.
