The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been placed in Group A of the Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations, Afcon 2023 qualifying round set to hold in Ivory Coast after the full draw on Tuesday.

Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, and So Tomé & Principe were also included in the group.

The Super Eagles were one of the 12 teams seeded in Pot 1 for the draw. The other teams in Pot 1 were Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Cameroon, and Algeria.

The teams were divided into 12 groups of four teams (Groups A through L), with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the competition in the West African country.

The qualifying rounds will kick off in June 2022.

Nigeria will be hoping to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which will be their 20th appearance at the tournament.

Nigeria enjoyed a terrific group stage run in the 2021 AFCON, but they fell short of triumph in the round of 16 as they were defeated by Tunisia by a lone goal.

Meanwhile, the Eagles will be facing Ecuador National Team in an international friendly match on the 2nd of June, 2022 in New Jersey, USA.
