Sarpsborg 08 FC battled to a hard-fought 2-2 draw against FK Haugesund in the Norwegian Eliteserien over the weekend, thanks to brilliant goals from Nigerian duo Franklin Tebo Uchenna and Daniel Job.
Franklin Uchenna set the tone in the first half, while Daniel Job delivered in the second half, but Sarpsborg ultimately saw their narrow lead slip away, leaving the matchday 19 clash in a stalemate, Footballrover reports.
The action unfolded at Sarpsborg Stadion, where both teams matched each other in terms of ball possession, though Haugesund slightly edged it in goal attempts.
Despite the visitors’ efforts, the game ended in a dramatic draw after the final whistle.
Haugesund started on the front foot, seemingly taking the lead through Sory Diarra just 19 minutes in, only for VAR to rule it out for offside.
This early scare seemed to ignite Sarpsborg, and just eight minutes later, it was the man of the moment, Franklin Uchenna, who smashed home a well-crafted ball from Sondre Ørjasæter to put the hosts ahead.
But the lead was fleeting as Denmark’s Julius Eskesen struck back with an equaliser 10 minutes before the break, sending both teams into the locker rooms with the score tied.
The second half mirrored the same intensity as the first, with Sarpsborg once again taking the lead through their 18-year-old Nigerian sensation, Daniel Job, just 17 minutes after the restart.
Job’s goal had the home crowd cheering, but the celebration was shortlived.
Haugesund refused to back down, and in the 81st minute, Sory Diarra finally found redemption, slotting in the equaliser that ensured both sides would share the spoils.
With this draw, Franklin Uchenna, Daniel Job, and their teammates now sit in 10th place with 23 points in the 16-team Eliteserien table.
Meanwhile, their opponents remain entangled in the relegation zone.
Next up for Sarpsborg is a challenging visit to the Aspmyra Stadion, where they’ll face league leaders Bodø/Glimt on Saturday.
