Super Eagles defender Tyronne Ebuehi delivered an impressive performance on Friday evening, registering an assist, but it was not enough to secure all three points for Empoli in their Serie B clash against Frosinone.
The Nigerian full-back played a key role in the opening goal of the encounter, only to see his side surrender their advantage and settle for a 2-2 draw at the final whistle, Footballrover reports.
Tyronne Ebuehi sparks Empoli before Frosinone fights back
Making his 12th appearance of the season, the 30-year-old recorded his first assist of the campaign, taking his total goal contributions to two.
He had previously opened his account with a goal in a 3-2 defeat to Palermo.
Ebuehi featured for 67 minutes before being replaced by Antonio Candela.
Empoli drew first blood through Steven Shpendi, who combined effectively with Ebuehi to break the deadlock.
Shpendi later doubled the visitors’ advantage in the first half, putting Empoli in what appeared to be a comfortable position.
However, Frosinone responded before the break, with Ghedjemis pulling one back with a composed finish to reignite hopes for the home side.
The momentum shifted further in the second half when Koutsoupias converted from close range to make it 2-2, completing Frosinone’s comeback.
Both sides pushed for a winner late on, but resolute defending and sharp goalkeeping ensured the points were shared.
Nwankwo hits 19th goal, but Al Orobah falls short
It was a similar tale for Simy Nwankwo in the Saudi Arabian First Division League, as his goal proved insufficient to prevent Al Orobah FC from slipping to a disappointing defeat against Diriyah FC.
In the Round 23 encounter at the SHG Arena, the Super Eagles striker netted his side’s only goal in a 3-1 loss to the hosts.
Although it was far from an ideal outing for the Nigerian forward, he still managed to register his 19th goal of the season, taking his overall goal contributions to 20 in just 17 appearances.
The 33-year-old remains the league’s third-highest scorer, trailing leading marksman Sylla Sow of Abha by two goals.
Gaëtan Laborde put the home side ahead in the 40th minute, before Moussa Marega doubled their advantage shortly after the restart.
Laborde grabbed his second of the game in the 59th minute to effectively seal the contest.
Simy reduced the deficit for the visitors in the 66th minute, but Diriyah maintained control and saw out the game comfortably until the final whistle.
