The Super Eagles of Nigeria experienced an unexpected adventure at Al Abaq airport, where what should have been a routine entry into Libya turned into an airport marathon.
After hours of waiting, they finally received the green light to step into the country—but not without drama, Footballrover reports.
A “system malfunction” threw the entry process into chaos, leaving the team stranded at the airport.
Just as they thought the worst was over, another twist awaited them—no buses in sight to take them on the three-hour journey to Benghazi.
The Super Eagles have been finally cleared after a lengthy wait at the Libyan airport. However, their journey is far from over. The team must now endure a three-hour bus ride to Benghazi, where they will face off on Tuesday. pic.twitter.com/muTU9rT0ns

So, with immigration hurdles behind them, they faced yet another delay, this time in transportation.
Super Eagles’ frosty welcome may have been payback
According to the Libyan media, their national team didn’t exactly enjoy VIP treatment when they visited Nigeria for the first leg of the AFCON qualifier.
The Mediterranean Knights reportedly endured a three-hour wait for transportation at Uyo’s airport, followed by an exhausting 200-kilometre trek through forests.
Now, it seems Libya has returned the favour, greeting Nigeria’s team with a similarly unpleasant experience.
The Super Eagles were originally set to fly directly to Benghazi, but their plane was diverted to Al Abaq, adding extra hours to an already gruelling trip.

Despite these hurdles, Nigeria, sitting pretty at the top of Group D with seven points, will be looking to extend their unbeaten run when they face off against Libya, who sit at the bottom with just a single point.
After their 1-0 win in the first leg, the Super Eagles are hungry for another victory—no matter what Libya throws at them.
