Another Nigeria Women Football League witnessed Sunshine Queens execute a masterful revenge plan on Wednesday, clinching a resounding 3-0 victory against their rivals, Robo Queens.
Prior to the match, Sunshine Queens’ captain, Suleiman Ajibade, had vowed to avenge their previous 3-2 defeat to Robo Queens in the NWFL.
At the Akure Township Stadium, goals poured in, but it was the Sunshine Queens who dominated the scoreboard, Footballrover reports.
An early own goal by Fasilat Adeyemo handed the hosts an advantage within two minutes of kick-off.
Building on this momentum, Taiwo Ajibade swiftly doubled the lead just eight minutes into the game, leaving the visitors reeling.
The onslaught continued as Shola Oduwale joined the scoring spree, netting another goal just three minutes later, sending the home crowd into more excitement.
With a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into halftime, the Sunshine Ladies were ready to demolish their visitors.
Despite relentless efforts from the Robo Queens to tighten their defence in the second half, the Sunshine Queens maintained their momentum, sealing their victory and exacting their revenge with style.
With this impressive win, the Sunshine Queens have now redeemed themselves. It’s mission accomplished for the resilient Akure Ladies!
