Rivers United Technical Manager Stanley Eguma was overjoyed after his team defeated Plateau United 2-0 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Wednesday.
Rivers United extended their advantage at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League standings to ten points after thrashing Plateau United.
The Pride of Rivers dominated the match, creating numerous chances before Chijioke Akuneto’s brace earned them the crucial victory and three points.
Rivers United now have a 10-point lead over Plateau United, who are in second place, and the margin might be beneficial to Stanley Eguma’s team.
Following the victory, the coach who couldn’t hide his joy, spoke to the media about his team’s improvement, the top scorer race, and other issues.

With seven games to the end of the 2021/22 season, Chijioke Akuneto and Rafiu Kayode maintain joint spot as the league top scorers with 14 goals each.
