Samuel Chukwueze reaches new heights with stellar display against Sassuolo
The winger’s first season was disrupted by injuries and the mid-season African Cup of Nations, limiting his impact.
However, since March, he has been in fine form, refusing to entertain transfer rumours during the summer and instead focusing on making a difference at Milan.
In the Coppa Italia round of 16 clash, Milan dominated early, with Chukwueze taking full charge for his side.
He opened the scoring in the 12th minute, expertly converting a pinpoint long ball from Tijjani Reijnders. Just nine minutes later, the Nigerian doubled his tally with a composed finish, putting Milan firmly in control.
Reijnders and Rafael Leão added to the lead with quick strikes, making it 4-0 by the 23rd minute.
In the second half, Davide Calabria and Tammy Abraham found the net to stretch the lead to 6-0, before Samuele Mulattieri scored a consolation goal for Sassuolo in the 59th minute.
Chukwueze’s all-around display highlighted his value to Milan. His stats for the match were equally impressive:
100% tackles won
