Samuel Akinbinu, a Nigerian-born Djibouti striker, helped AS Arta Solar 7 win their second consecutive Djibouti Premier League title by defeating Arhiba FC at El Hadj Hassan Gouled Aptidon Stadium.Samuel Akinbinu wins 2nd league title as AS Arta Solar7 beat Arhiba 12-1

After moving 10 points clear at the top of the league table last season, the forward helped the Djiboutian side defend their crown.

On Saturday, Akinbinu, who was born in Lagos, Nigeria but plays for Djibouti internationally, won the Djibouti Premier League title for the second year in a row with AS Arta/Solar7.

The 22-year-old forward won the league title after his team thrashed Arhiba 12-1 in their top-flight match.

Arta grabbed the league trophy with an unbeatable 45 points after 18 games, ten more than second-placed Port and the same as third-placed CF GR/SIAF.

As of halftime, Samuel Akinbinu’s Arta were leading Arhiba 6-1, before adding six more goals in the second half to seal the title.

Meanwhile, Alex Song, former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder, was also a part of the league champions.

Song signed for the Djiboutian club as a free agent in November 2020, after being released by Swiss Super League team Sion in March.
