The transfer of Sadio Mane to Bundesliga, according to Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, might be a significant loss for the Premier League and would undoubtedly have a massive impact on Liverpool next season.
Mane finalized a deal to Bayern Munich for under £35m in June after declining to sign a new contract at Anfield, having hinted that he was open to a fresh challenge at the end of the previous campaign.
Mane’s exit came as a surprise, but Liverpool had ready-made alternatives in the form of Luis Diaz, who joined in January, and Darwin Nunez, who joined in early June.
The Senegal and Chelsea goalkeeper – Mendy feels the Jürgen Klopp side could still be greatly affected by the departure of his international partner.
During the Blues’ preseason tour in the US, Edouard Mendy was questioned about Mane’s decision to join Bayern Munich and he replied saying;
“I think it is a big loss for the Premier League in terms of quality and in terms of the person. We’ve lost someone great and I hope for him he will enjoy the Bundesliga.”

After losing ground in the title fight last season, Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea team will be looking to bridge the gap to both Liverpool and the defending champions Man City next campaign. It is evident that Mendy believes Mane’s absence could have a disadvantage.
“He’s also a big loss [to Liverpool] because of his quality, the impact he makes and also because, for the young players, he’s an example. When you lose someone like this it can have a huge impact.” – the shot stopper added.
