Ishaq Abdularazak, a 20-year-old Nigerian midfielder, has officially signed for Belgian side RSC Anderlecht after his spell at IFK Norkopping.
RSC Anderlecht on Monday confirmed that the club has acquired the services of Ishaq Abdulrazak from IFK Norrkoping in Sweden’s top flight.
The Purple and White recruited the midfielder after he dazzled at the PlatinumCars Arena during their last campaign.
The Nigerian was given a four-year contract by the Belgian side after passing his medical and he will remain at Lotto Park in Brussels until 2026.
The club wrote in a statement saying;
“The first summer transfer is here. RSC Anderlecht have reached an agreement with Swedish club Norrkoping concerning the definitive transfer of Ishaq Abdulrazak. He signs a contract for four seasons at our club. Ishaq is a 20-year-old Nigerian who played for Norrkoping since 2020 and has been a stronghold of the team ever since. He’s comfortable as a wingback but can just as well play in various positions in midfield.”
Abdulrazak started his football career with Unity Academy in Kaduna State, Nigeria, before earning his first professional deal with the Swedish club in 2020.
In his 3 years with the Comrades, the youngster made 55 league appearances, scoring two goals in the process.
According to Ishaq Abdularazak, moving to Belgium is a huge step in his career, and he wants to establish his worth.
“This is a big step up for me, one that I’m very proud of. I want to prove my worth to the team as soon as possible and I am looking forward to meeting my teammates and the fans,” he was quoted by the Anderlecht website.
Peter Verbeke, the club’s Chief Executive Officer, is delighted to have the African on board, and he discussed the traits that drew Abdulrazak to the 34-time Belgian club winners.
“We have been following Ishaq for quite a while and we are very happy that we can add him to the group now. Ishaq has a lot of physical qualities; he is fast, agile, has volume and plays with aggressiveness. On the other hand, he also has a lot of technical abilities, which makes him a versatile player,” he said.
RSC Anderlecht placed third in the 2021-22 campaign, earning a spot in the Europa Conference League third qualifying round the following season.
