After a tense tie with Congolese team Diables Noirs in Uyo on Sunday, Rivers United advanced to the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals.
At the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, the Pride of Rivers’ CAF Confederation match against the visitors ended in a 2-2 draw.

Emmanuel Ampiah, a defender for Rivers United, scored an own goal to gift Diable Noirs the lead after 28 minutes.
The NPFL Champions went on to take charge of the game in the first half but were unable to score an equalizer
But the Congolese managed to preserve their lead for the remainder of the first half.
Before former Kano Pillars attacker, Nyima Nwagua, scored Rivers United’s equalizer in the 73rd minute by half-volleying the ball in from close range.
Four minutes later, the Stanley Eguma team took the lead, and it was the super striker Nwagua, who scored once more to increase their advantage.
Deo Gracias Basinga’s goal for the opposition team nine minutes into stoppage time gave Diables Noirs a share of the victory.
With a game remaining, Rivers United has advanced to the quarterfinals of the CAF Confederation’s Cup and now leads Group B with a 10 point record after five games.
