Rivers United played out a 1-1 draw against Akwa United during their Nigeria Professional Football League game at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday to keep their unbeaten streak alive.
Adeyeye Adeyemi scored just two minutes after the second half resumed to earn a point for Akwa United as the Pride of Rivers extended their advantage at the top of the league log by two points.
Stanley Eguma’s team grabbed the lead just 17 minutes into the game, when Akwa United defender Etim Matthew headed a cross from Chijioke Akuneto into his own net.
The matchday 20 match lived up to its hype, but Rivers United fans were rest assured that they are in good hands. Sochima Victor received the credit for the game’s 1-1 draw as he made numerous saves.
Rivers United’s unbeaten run this season now stands at 19 games, and they remain on top of the table with 43 points from 20 games.
