Rivers Angels head coach, Whyte Ogbonda, exudes confidence as his team gears up for the upcoming challenge against Sunshine Queens in the NWFL, affirming that his side is devoid of specific pressure but with a clear target in mind.
Ogbonda underlined the significance of securing maximum points to bolster their chances of advancing to the Super Six stage, following their recent success in the South-South derby against rival Delta Queens, footballrover reports.
Set for Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024, at the Akure Township Stadium, the forthcoming encounter against Sunshine Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership promises an exciting showdown for the Jewel of Rivers.
Despite Sunshine Queens’ setback in a 4-2 loss to Edo Queens last week, they aim to rebound on their home turf.
However, Rivers Angels remain resolute and entirely focused on clinching another three points to strengthen their position in the league standings.

Acknowledging the potential challenge of the match, Ogbonda asserts his team’s readiness to battle for victory, dispelling notions of pressure while emphasising their aim for a positive outcome to smooth future encounters.
“I wouldn’t say I’m under pressure, but we need to get those three points. The team is not under any pressure, but our target is to get the three points so that other matches will be very easy for us,” Ogbonda stated.
Meanwhile, Ogbonda has highlighted the expected intensity of the match, given the demeanour of Akure fans, yet assured that his team is adequately prepared to tackle the challenge head-on.
