Speaking to the club’s official website after the game, the Viktoria Plzen boss praised Durosinmi’s ability in front of goal but noted that he still struggles in certain aspects.

“He is at a high level, which is rising with every match. His main strength is in the penalty area; he is still a bit sluggish outside it,” Koubek admitted. “But what can I criticise him for when he scores two goals?” he added with a laugh.

Viktoria Plzen took the lead through Pavel Šulc in the 14th minute after Lukáš Kalvach set him up to cancel out Sparta Prague’s early goal.

Durosinmi then made his mark in the 37th minute, finishing off Cadu’s assist to put his team ahead before halftime at the Epet Arena.

Sparta Prague equalised early in the second half through Filip Panák, but Durosinmi restored Plzen’s lead just five minutes later, this time converting a pass from Matěj Vydra.

The 22-year-old Nigerian then turned provider, setting up Vydra in the 61st minute to seal the 4-2 win.

Why Durosinmi’s role is crucial for Plzen

Koubek also highlighted the forward’s natural scoring instinct, stating that some players can go a whole match without touching the ball, but Durosinmi always finds a way to make an impact.

“Rafiu always has to get into the match, but he is a scorer; he can finish, and he showed it again today,” he said.

With six league goals and five assists so far this season, alongside contributions in the Europa League, Rafiu Durosinmi remains vital to Plzeň’s attacking force.

His ability to rise to big occasions is already clear, and while his coach believes there’s room for improvement, his decisive performances continue to make the difference.
