Philip Otele joins Hamburger SV in Bundesliga loan move

Hamburger SV have completed a late move in the transfer window by signing Nigerian winger Philip Otele on loan from FC Basel until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old, who will wear the number 27 shirt, becomes HSV’s fourth winter addition as the club looks to strengthen its attacking options and add more depth out wide, Footballrover reports.

Sporting director Claus Costa described Otele as a classic winger, highlighting his creativity, direct dribbling, and goal threat, as well as his courage on the ball and strong current form.

Born in Port Harcourt, Otele began his career in England before playing professionally in several countries, including Switzerland with Basel.

Since joining Basel, he has been a consistent performer, contributing goals and assists regularly, and now arrives in Hamburg motivated for the next challenge in the Bundesliga.

He registered 18 goals and eight assists in 53 competitive outings last season and has already been involved in 13 goals from 32 appearances across all competitions this season.

Ogundu seals long-term Augsburg move after rapid rise

Meanwhile, FC Augsburg have boosted their attacking options after completing the deadline-day signing of Nigerian youngster Uchenna Ogundu from Turkish side Alanyaspor.

The 19-year-old forward has committed his future to the Bundesliga club, signing a long-term deal that runs until June 2031, with the transfer fee undisclosed.

Ogundu is regarded as a quick and versatile attacker who can operate as a central striker, in attacking midfield, or on either wing.

He started his career at Nigeria’s Diamond Football Academy before moving to Turkey in August 2024, where he impressed at Sanliurfaspor with six goals in 19 competitive appearances.

Uchenna Ogundu completes FC Augsburg Bundesliga transfer

He stepped up to the Süper Lig earlier this season with Alanyaspor, contributing two goals and two assists in league action, alongside another goal in the Turkish Cup.

Augsburg sporting director Benni Weber praised his pace, movement, and attacking flexibility, as Ogundu will wear the number 39 shirt at FCA.

My goal is to settle in quickly, learn a lot, and contribute my qualities on the pitch. I can’t wait to play in the WWK ARENA for the first time and experience the atmosphere,” Ogundu explains.
