Man of the moment, Philip Otele, is back at it again, doing what he knows how to do best—scoring goal after goal—to lead FC Basel to a nail-biting victory over Grasshopper during their Swiss Super League clash on Saturday evening.

Philip Otele Lights Up St. Jakob-Park with a Brace
It was a Round 2 showdown of the Swiss Super League, and the Nigerian star came out firing on all cylinders at St. Jakob-Park in Switzerland, Footballrover reports.
After registering nine goals and four assists in 18 appearances for Basel last season, Otele looks even more lethal this term.
The forward opened the scoring late in the first half, combining brilliantly with Dominik Schmid before calmly slotting home.

That goal gave Basel the lead heading into the interval.
Just 24 minutes into the second half, Grasshopper hit back with an equaliser courtesy of Maksim Paskotsi.
But it didn’t take long for Otele to restore order.
Just six minutes later, the 26-year-old striker found the back of the net again—his second of the game—to hand Basel the lead once more.
Basel’s €3M Man Proving His Worth Again
A minute before regulation time, Otele—clearly the star of the match—took a bow as he was replaced by Koba Koindredi.
Basel held on to their slim advantage, sealing all three points in a tightly contested encounter.
The victory puts the Swiss champions back on track following a narrow 2-1 defeat to St. Gallen in their season opener—a much-needed boost in momentum as they look to defend their league title.

As for Otele, his story at Basel is evolving into something special. In his last outing, the Nigerian forward marked his permanent return with a goal in a 4-2 comeback win over FC Rapperswil-Jona—a reminder of why the club spent €3 million to bring him back from Al Wahda.
And now, he’s done it again. Two goals, three points, and rising confidence.
Otele’s fine scoring form is proving that FC Basel’s faith in him is already paying off—and this new chapter may just be his best yet.
