Philip Otele is in the form of his life right now. He’s either banging in goals or assisting others, and this time around, that’s exactly what he did—inspiring FC Basel to yet another huge victory in their quest to retain the Swiss Super League title.

After grabbing a brace to lead the team to a 2-1 win over Grasshopper in their last outing, the Nigerian star boy has delivered when called upon yet again, Footballrover reports.
Philip Otele Ignites Basel’s Attack in Big Win Over Young Boys
The Swiss Super League champions crushed Young Boys 4-1 during the league’s Round 4 clash at the St. Jakob-Park on Wednesday evening, with the 26-year-old Nigerian at the heart of it all.

Otele helped Basel continue their dominance from last season, as he provided the match-winning assist, taking his tally so far to two goals and one assist this campaign.
Basel Turn Up the Heat Against Young Boys
Basel turned on the style at home, thumping their visitors in a thrilling encounter that saw Xherdan Shaqiri steal the show.
Darian Males gave the visitors an early lead in the 17th minute, coolly converting after a sharp assist from Edimilson Fernandes.

But Basel responded with intent. Shaqiri pulled them level in the 39th minute, slotting home after a neat setup from Dominik Schmid.
The game took a dramatic turn just before the hour mark when Fernandes saw red, leaving Young Boys a man down.
Basel capitalised almost instantly—Shaqiri stepped up to bury a penalty in the 60th minute, putting his side ahead.
From there, Basel surged. Kevin Carlos made it 3-1 in the 75th minute, finishing off a slick move with an assist from Philip Otele.
Deep into stoppage time, Metinho added the final flourish with a composed strike to seal an emphatic victory.
What’s Next for Otele and His Teammates?
Next up, Basel travel to face Lugano on Sunday, brimming with momentum.
Otele will obviously be hoping to build on this momentum as he looks to surpass his 13-goal contribution—nine goals and four assists in 21 appearances last season.
With the form he’s in, the 26-year-old Nigerian might just be the secret weapon FC Basel need to defend their title and keep the pressure on their Swiss Super League rivals.
