Nigerian midfielder Philip Azango is doing big things in the Slovak Super Liga and has wasted no time in making his mark in the new season.

Azango was on fire as Spartak Trnava thrashed Ružomberok 3-0 in their opening weekend clash at the City Arena, Footballrover reports.
Philip Azango Scores as Spartak Trnava Crush Ružomberok
With a goal and a disallowed effort, the midfielder showed early signs that this might just be his breakout season in the Slovak top-flight.
The game began with a slow first half, but things heated up just before the break.

In the 43rd minute, Jakub Paur capitalised on a defensive blunder by Alexander Selecký and gave Spartak Trnava a 1-0 lead.
It was a vital breakthrough that opened the floodgates for what would follow. Ten minutes after halftime, Azango made it 2-0.
After receiving a precise pass from Giorgi Moistsrapishvili inside the box, the 28-year-old Nigerian calmly placed the ball into the net, sending the home crowd wild.
By the 58th minute, Ružomberok’s chances of a comeback were dealt a fatal blow as David Huf received a straight red card after striking Koštrn in the jaw, reducing the visitors to ten men.
Shortly after, Azango looked to have scored again, but his second goal was ruled offside. Despite the disappointment, Spartak Trnava kept pushing.
In the 73rd minute, super substitute Roman Procházka added a third with a sharp finish from inside the penalty area—just five minutes after entering the pitch.
With this, Trnava secured the biggest win of the Slovak Liga’s opening round and went straight to the top of the table.

Is This the Season Philip Azango Hits Double Figures?
The midfielder is now in his third season at Trnava, and fans are hopeful this will be his most productive yet.
In his first campaign, he scored seven goals and assisted six in 30 appearances. Last season, he managed six goals and two assists in just 21 matches.
Now, having already found the net in the first game of the season, many believe the Nigerian star could finally break the double-digit barrier in goals.
His journey in the Nike Liga began with a three-season stint at Trencin before joining Trnava as a free agent.
This marks his sixth year in the Slovak top flight, and the signs suggest it could be his most exciting yet.
Speaking after the emphatic win, Spartak Trnava coach Michal Ščasný said:
— “We are happy that we entered the league with such a result, as well as a solid game considering that it was the first round. We were hungry for victory from the beginning of the match. The first half lacked pace and intensity somewhat, but there was plenty of downtime.”
With his form already turning heads, Azango might just be the player to watch this season in the Slovak Liga.
