Recall that the Jewels of Rivers sealed their landmark 10th FA Cup triumph after a nail-biting 4-2 penalty shootout win over Nasarawa Amazons at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
The victory, which came after a fiercely contested final, further sealed their dominance in Nigerian women’s football.
To celebrate this massive achievement, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas hosted a special recognition ceremony at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The event was attended by players, officials, and other key sports stakeholders, including athletes from Team Rivers who competed at the National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
Vice Admiral Ibas commended Rivers Angels not just for their on-field brilliance but for being role models in resilience, discipline, and long-term excellence.

He highlighted the importance of creating a legacy that can inspire future generations.

The honour wasn’t exclusive to Rivers Angels. Accolades were also extended to Rivers Hoppers for their outstanding season and to Rivers United, who secured qualification for the 2025/2026 CAF Champions League.
According to the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, the ceremony aimed to inspire the youth of the State to chase their dreams with courage and consistency.
