Paul Onuachu is truly a man on a mission right now. The striker is in brilliant form, finding the back of the net once again to help Trabzonspor advance to the next round of the Turkish Cup after their clash with Istanbul Basaksehir FK on Tuesday night.

Onuachu came off the bench to inspire his team to a 4-2 victory over their hosts, who finished the match with ten men at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium, Footballrover reports.

The 31-year-old forward was introduced in the 65th minute, replacing Umut Nayir, and made a major impact just 19 minutes after stepping onto the pitch.

The Super Eagles star has now scored in eight consecutive games after netting the third goal for the visitors in the six-goal thriller.

Since returning from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished in third place, Onuachu has scored nine goals and provided one assist.

In total, he has now registered 22 goal contributions — 18 league goals, two assists, and two additional goals in the Turkish Cup.

While Onuachu was one of the main highlights of the night, his compatriot Anthony Nwakaeme also played his part in the crucial cup victory.

Late Drama Seals Victory After Ten-Man Advantage

The match burst into life early when Felipe Augusto gave Trabzonspor the lead in the 6th minute.

Istanbul Basaksehir FK responded strongly after the break, with Nuno Da Costa leveling the score shortly after halftime.

Momentum swung back and forth, as Ivan Brnić put the hosts ahead in the 76th minute, only for Mustafa Eskihellac to restore parity soon after.

The turning point came late when Ousseynou Ba was sent off in the 81st minute, reducing Başakşehir to ten men.

Trabzonspor quickly capitalised, and Onuachu struck in the 84th minute to put his side ahead before Ozan Tufan sealed the dramatic victory a minute later.

After four rounds of matches in Cup Group A, Onuachu and his teammates finished with nine points.
