The Nigerian forward had initially aimed for a move to the Premier League or a return to Ligue 1 after deciding to part ways with Napoli, Footballrover reports.

The Italian club’s hefty price tag complicated matters for interested parties, including Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. Napoli also thwarted Al-Ahli’s attempts to sign him.

However, as the transfer window closed across Europe’s top leagues, the Super Eagles found himself sidelined from Napoli first team.

Galatasaray seized the opportunity to secure his services. The Lions ultimately signed the 25-year-old on loan, a move that surprised many, including Prekazi.

In an interview with TRT Spor via Cumhuriyet, Prekazi remarked on Osimhen’s choice to play for Galatasaray, affirming that the towering striker would significantly enhance the team’s performance.

“I couldn’t believe Osimhen, I couldn’t believe he would come to Galatasaray and that he did. He wanted to go to England, the problem was in Napoli because the transfer was a lot of money,” he said.

“I don’t know how he came to Galatasaray. It’s great, he will make a great contribution, it’s obvious. Nobody can hold him.”

The reigning African Men’s Player of the Year has kicked off the season in remarkable fashion, contributing at least one goal involvement in each match and tallying six goals across four games for the Lions.
