Doma United first-choice goalkeeper Osayi Kingdom has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Nigeria Premier Football League side for helping him achieve his dreams of moving from an unknown player to a valued member of the team.
In a footballing nation where many youngsters are seriously seeking opportunities, Osayi revealed that he joined Doma United without knowing much about the team but was given a chance by the team chairman, Suleiman Umar, after seeing his highlights, Footballrover reports.
Osayi praised the chairman, Suleiman Umar, for his support and vision, saying,
“The Chairman, Suleiman Umar, only saw my highlights and told the coaches, ‘This is what we’re looking for’. Blessed be the day I joined this family. There’s no better way to say thank you than to give my all on the field of play.”
The goalkeeper spoke highly of the Doma United Chairman, claiming that there were many positive things to share but leaving them unsaid.
He also emphasised the importance of placing value on people who show respect, regardless of their financial status.
Since joining Doma United, Osayi has been instrumental in the team’s fight in the league, currently sitting in 16th place with 39 points on the NPFL table.
His impressive performances have also put him in the race for the NPFL golden glove, with 14 clean sheets this season.
Despite being linked with a move abroad at the end of the season, Osayi remains committed to Doma United’s project and is expected to play a key role in their remaining matches.
His skill set, which includes playing with his feet, has made him a standout in the goalkeeping department of the Nigerian league, the NPFL.
