Matchday 3 of the NLO U19 Youth League opened with an entertaining 2-2 draw between Dolphins Academy and Benedi United FC at Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt.

Benedi United hit back just before halftime when substitute Daniel Ita curled in a stunning free kick in first-half stoppage time.

Asuru struck again in the 53rd minute with a close-range header to restore Dolphins’ advantage, but Abednego Silas kept Benedi in the fight, converting a penalty in the 73rd minute to level the scores for the second time.

Both sides pushed for a late winner, but the spoils were shared in a game full of attacking intent.

The second fixture was a one-sided affair as De Cardinal Sports Club produced a dominant 5-1 win against YWAM Impact FC, keeping their perfect start to the competition alive.

YWAM Impact struck first in the 34th minute, with Chiwendu Nwale converting from the penalty spot.

But De Cardinals responded in first-half added time, Lenee Wisdom breaking an offside trap to slot home the equaliser.

From there, it was all De Cardinals. John Meshack put them ahead in the 54th minute with a powerful finish into the roof of the net.

Substitute Ossat Desmond made it 3-1 with a header in the 66th minute before Meshack grabbed his second of the day—rounding the goalkeeper for 4-1 in the 78th minute.

Deep into stoppage time, substitute Benebii Peter completed the rout with a clinical strike, sealing a resounding victory for De Cardinals and marking Meshack’s fourth goal in just two matches.

What’s Next?

The NLO U19 Youth League returns on Thursday, August 15, with two key fixtures that could shake up the standings.

At 10:00 AM, Benedi United FC will take on high-flying De Cardinal Sports Club in what promises to be a stern test for the newcomers against one of the league’s most dangerous attacking sides.

Then, at 12:00 PM, Cynosure Feeders FC face Dolphin Academy FA in a clash that could have big implications for the chase at the top.

Cynosure will look to strengthen their push for the summit, while Dolphins aim to build on recent form.
