Hafiz Ibrahim Fires First Goal as Reims Battle to Draw in Bruising Ligue 2 Clash

Nigerian youngster Hafiz Ibrahim has kicked off life in French Ligue 2 side Reims once again by finding the back of the net to inspire his team to a hard-fought draw against Amiens on Monday evening.

It was the opening fixture of the season, and the 19-year-old forward delivered for his team when called upon. However, Reims had to settle for a thrilling 4-goal contest with their hosts, Footballrover reports.

The bruising Ligue 2 clash at the Stade de la Licorne saw the Nigerian come off the bench to put his team ahead.

In the end, however, Amiens and Reims shared the spoils in a 2–2 draw packed with twists, goals, and injuries.

The hosts drew first blood in the 14th minute when Zabi Gueu’s unfortunate own goal handed Amiens the lead.

Reims hit back 18 minutes later through Mamadou Diakhon’s sharp finish, setting up a tense second half.

Substitute Hafiz Ibrahim made an instant impact after replacing Jordan Siebatcheu in the 62nd minute, putting Reims ahead in the 80th with a precise left-footed strike to the bottom corner — ironically assisted by the earlier own-goal culprit, Zabi.

Just when it looked like the visitors would snatch all three points, Ange Chibozo salvaged a draw deep into stoppage time with a 93rd-minute equaliser.

The action came at a cost: Amiens lost Yanis Rafii in the first half and Thomas Monconduit in the second due to injury, while Reims saw Joseph Okumu and Zabi forced off injured just minutes before full time.

It was a match of grit, guts, and grimaces — and both sides left with a point, but also with bruised squads.

Hafiz Ibrahim, who failed to find the net for Reims last season but managed one assist in 12 appearances, will be aiming for a more productive campaign this time around—and he has started on the right foot.
