Italy: Chukwueze Shines in Serie A Thriller
In Italy, Samuel Chukwueze made his mark as AC Milan staged a dramatic comeback to earn a late draw against Torino in their Serie A season opener, Footballrover reports.
Chukwueze entered the fray in the 60th minute, replacing Theo Hernandez at the iconic San Siro stadium.
Milan found themselves trailing after an own goal by Malick Thiaw and a strike from Duvan Zapata.
However, Milan showed resilience with two late goals from Alvaro Morata and Noah Okafor to salvage a point, leaving Torino stunned.
Meanwhile, another Nigerian, Maduka Okoye, put on a goalkeeping masterclass for Udinese as they battled to a hard-fought draw against Bologna.
Okoye, who played the full 90 minutes at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, made five crucial saves and won two duels to keep his team in the game.
Kingsley Ehizibue also contributed to Udinese’s defence, making a vital tackle and winning five duels, but the match ended 1-1 after Riccardo Orsolini’s opener was cancelled out by Lautaro Giannetti.
Belgium: Onyedika Leads Brugge to Victory
In Belgium, Raphael Onyedika was the engine in midfield for Club Brugge as they secured a narrow home win over Royal Antwerp in the Jupiler Pro League.
Onyedika, who played for 83 minutes, was instrumental in controlling the game, helping Brugge edge past Antwerp with a lone goal by Gustaf Nilsson.
The Nigerian midfielder was substituted in the 83rd minute, with Ardon Jashari coming on as Brugge held on to their slim lead.
In Challenger Pro League, Tochukwu Nnadi delivered an impressive performance for Zulte Waregem, but his efforts were not enough to prevent a narrow defeat to Koninklijke Lierse.
Pietro Perdichizzi’s first-half goal sealed the win for the visitors at the Elindus Arena, leaving Nnadi and his teammates with plenty to ponder.
France: Simon and Adams Star in Ligue 1
Over in France, Gabriel Osho made a dream debut in the French Ligue 1 for AJ Auxerre, helping his team to a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over OGC Nice at the Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps.
Victor Orakpo also made his debut for Nice, coming on in the 79th minute to replace Gaetan Laborde, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide for the visitors.
Moses Simon was also in action in Ligue 1, featuring for Nantes as they battled to a goalless draw against Toulouse in their season opener.
Simon played for 75 minutes before being substituted for Mostafa Mohamed as both sides struggled to find the back of the net.
Elsewhere, Akor Adams put in a crucial shift for Montpellier, winning a penalty that earned his team a valuable 1-1 draw against Strasbourg.
After a goalless first half at the Stade de la Mosson, Habib Diarra broke the deadlock for Strasbourg in the 58th minute.
But just nine minutes later, Adams won a penalty, which Teji Savanier coolly converted to secure a point.
Adams was subbed off in the 80th minute, with Othmane Maamma taking his place.
With these stellar performances, Raphael Onyedika, Moses Simon, and Akor Adams have truly led the charge for Nigerian players abroad, showing off their talents on some of Europe’s biggest stages.
