Super Eagles star Nathan Tella wasted no time making his mark, delivering a classy finish to set Bayer Leverkusen on course for a dominant 4-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The win not only shattered Frankfurt’s home resilience but also extended Leverkusen’s Bundesliga-record unbeaten away run to an astonishing 29 matches, Footballrover reports.
Nathan Tella strikes early as Leverkusen run riot
Tella opened the scoring in the 26th minute after showing off his sharp movement and composure.
Receiving a precise pass from Granit Xhaka, the Nigerian international glided past Arthur Theate before expertly guiding his shot into the bottom-left corner.
Just three minutes later, the visitors doubled their lead through Nordi Mukiele, who reacted quickest to a chaotic scramble in the box.
Xabi Alonso’s side wasn’t done yet, as Patrik Schick made it 3-0 before halftime, finishing off a well-crafted move initiated by Xhaka and Alejandro Grimaldo.
Leverkusen unstoppable as unbeaten run grows
Frankfurt briefly found a lifeline before the break when Hugo Ekitike capitalised on a defensive mistake to pull one back.
The hosts nearly struck again early in the second half, but Ekitike’s stunning volley rattled the post.
However, any hopes of a comeback were crushed when Aleix García sealed the victory with a brilliant volley, restoring Leverkusen’s three-goal cushion.
Victor Boniface made a late cameo, replacing Nathan Tella in the 77th minute, as Leverkusen comfortably saw out the game.
The result keeps them firmly in the title race, maintaining an eight-point gap behind Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Frankfurt suffered back-to-back four-goal defeats and saw their once-solid home form crumble.
