The young Eagles stunned the clinical Plato-Vake 1 from Georgia, securing a resounding 4-1 victory to advance to the next round of the U16 boys category.
Coming off a dominant 3-0 win over IFK Falkoping in the last group stage game, the Nigerian side were already brimming with confidence.
Despite facing a Georgian outfit known for their attacking traits, the Eagles displayed remarkable resilience, brushing their opponent aside.
The first half was a close affair, with both teams trading blows. However, it was Plato-Vake 1 who drew first blood.
Undeterred, the Eagles responded with vigour, levelling the score through Zikora Jefferson Ifezue’s well-taken goal heading into the interval.
The second half witnessed a breathtaking display of attacking football from the Nigerian youngsters.
Emmanuel Tope Suberu ignited the crowd with a superb finish to put his side ahead.
The momentum kept increasing for the Eagles as Muhammed Qudus Tony extended their lead just two minutes later, leaving the Georgian defence in disarray.
Suberu completed his brace in the 58th minute, sealing a comprehensive victory for Nigeria.
The final whistle erupted in jubilation as the young Eagles celebrated their progression to the next stage of the tournament.
With this impressive performance, the young Eagles announced their presence at the Gothia Cup and will be looking to continue their winning streak as they face tougher challenges ahead.
