The NFF Boss made this statement on Monday night while visiting the team camp in Constantine together with Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi, a member of the NFF Board, and General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.

Before the final Group B games on Saturday, he emphasized that the boys must give it their all to put down group leaders Morocco and advance to the top of the table.

Mr Gusau, however, advised the Golden Eaglets to make sure their knockout round qualification is guaranteed as soon as possible in order to avoid any unforeseen circumstances before the last group stage encounter.

He admonished the youngsters that they cannot afford to let the millions of Nigerians who are watching and supporting them down.

Let me start by congratulating you on your victory over Zambia on Sunday. It was a tough game, but your quality showed in your ability to pick the three points. However, nothing has been won yet. You must go all out against Morocco to achieve victory and bounce back to the top of the group,” he said.

Recall that the five-time world Champions defeated Zambia at the Stade Mohamed Hamlaoui on Sunday night to earn all three points courtesy of a goal goalmouth brawl from Favor Daniel.

Hours later, though, Morocco defeated South Africa’s Amajimbo 2-0 to overtake the Eaglets for first place in the group by a goal.

The top two teams from each of the three groups, along with the top two third-place teams, proceed to the quarterfinals of the U-17 AFCON tournament.

The results of the quarterfinal games will determine the four semifinalists, who will consequently progress to represent Africa at the FIFA U17 World Cup finals this year.
