Rivers United Technical Manager Stanley Eguma has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance against Gombe United, describing the draw as a “birthday present.”
Stanley Eguma, the birthday coach, sure do have every reason to be pleased after Rivers United drew 0-0 with Gombe United on Sunday in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
After 18 games, Eguma’s Rivers United squad is still in first place in the NPFL table, and he was similarly happy with his team’s performance in the tie.

Chijioke Akuneto, Nyima Nwagua, and Ishaq Kayode all came close to scoring, but it took the heroics safe hands of Sochima Victor to preserve the score at 0-0 after 90 minutes at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe, ensuring the Pride of Rivers maintained their one-point lead over Plateau United.
🎙”One good thing about the game is that today is my birthday. My players actually promised to give me a birthday gift by winning the game but we got a draw. I saw their effort today, they made frantic effort to win the game but a lot of scoring chances they missed especially in the first half, they would have rapped up the game.” – Stanley Eguma said.
