Rivers United are back to winning ways after a 1-0 win over Lobi Stars during their NPFL matchday 21 tie at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The Stanley Eguma side bounced back from a 1-1 away draw with Akwa United on Saturday at the Nest of Champions in Uyo to beat struggling Lobi Stars.
The final score was Rivers United 1-0 Lobi Stars, as the Pride of Rivers claimed victory and all three points at home.
The Wike Boys took the lead just 15 minutes into the game thanks to a fantastic finish from Nyima Nwagua from outside the area.
The attacker controlled the ball with his chest and sent a powerful drive beyond Lobi Stars goalie Onyia.
16 minutes later, Rivers came close to making it 2-0 when Nyima Nwagua’s high press marking offered Ishaq Kayode a chance in front of goal, but his effort was diverted for a corner kick.
The home team continued to play with the same vigour in the second half, attempting to extend their lead but failed to do so.
Benard Ovoke later stepped in to replace the goal scorer – Nyima Nwagua in the 84th minute, even though the game finished with the lone goal.

Stanley Eguma will be pleased with his team’s performance, as they came out on top in the match.
The Port Harcourt outfit are still two points clear at the top of the Nigerian Professional Football League, and they will try to keep that momentum going when they face Enyimba on Sunday, April 17.
