After a magnificent first-half performance from the Nigerian goalkeeper, Az Alkmaar managed to break the deadlock just two minutes after the break when Greece foward – Vangelis Pavlidis found the back of the net.
It took four minutes of added time for the hosts to equalize through Vito van Crooij as both sides shared the points at the end of the final whistle.
The 1-1 tie keeps Az Alkmaar in fifth place with 59 points after 31 games, while Sparta Rotterdam, who are seriously fighting for relegation, are left in 18th place with only 26 points.
With fewer games left to play this season, their chances of surviving are extremely limited, but the Henk Fraser side will be hoping to get back on track when they go to Groningen on Saturday, May 7.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper will also be looking to keep up his incredible form in the 18-yard box, as he will be returning to Watford (who are also fighting for survival) at the conclusion of the season.
