Awoniyi Celebrates with a Faith-Based Message
The forward delivered an early weekend sermon after finding the back of the net.
Awoniyi celebrated his goal with a message inscribed on his undershirt, reading “Kilen F’Olorun Pe” in Yoruba, which translates to “Who are you taking God for?”.
Awoniyi’s Impressive Performance
The Super Eagles star registered four shots on goal before being substituted in the 67th minute and replaced by Divock Origi.
The brilliantly taken goal by Taiwo Awoniyi gave Forest a breathing space heading to the final whistle at City Ground.
Despite conceding in all 13 of their previous league games, Forest held onto a slim lead against a 10-man West Ham team (Kalvin Phillips was given a red card) until Callum Hudson-Odoi scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to double the home team’s lead and complete a 2-0 victory.
Forest Moves Up the Table
After 14 Premier League games this season, Taiwo Awoniyi currently has 6 goals and 2 assists. Only ten games have he started.
Recall that last season, the Nigerian forward rescued Forest from being relegated, and he has been excellent this season both before and after his injury return?
With 24 points, the 26-year-old Nigerian and his teammates are now four points clear of the relegation zone after the win, and they are currently ranked in 15th position.
What’s their next move? They now have a trip to Villa Park on Saturday to play Aston Villa.
