Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has revealed his picks for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title contenders.
While Nigeria is focused on their qualification, Boniface’s attention has turned to four African teams he believes are strong enough to compete for the prestigious trophy, footballrover reports.
Following Nigeria’s qualification for the 2025 AFCON after a 1-1 draw with Benin, Boniface, who played the final 18 minutes, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance.
For the Bundesliga star, the ultimate goal was securing the top spot in the group, regardless of when the qualification was confirmed.
With one more game left against Rwanda, the Super Eagles are eager to maintain their dominance.
Boniface makes AFCON 2025 predictions
When speaking to Football Fans Tribe, Boniface named Morocco, Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Mali as the teams to watch out for in the upcoming tournament.
Victor Boniface emphasised that despite the rising strength of these nations, no team should be underestimated in AFCON 2025, and each one could pose a serious challenge.
“There’s a lot of good teams. Morocco, Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Mali. When it comes to Africa football, you cannot underestimate any team. Everyone is good, so we’re looking forward to it,” Boniface told Football Fans Tribe.
In a more personal reflection, Boniface also opened up about a frightening incident on October 20, when he was involved in a severe car crash while in Germany.
Thankfully, the Bayer Leverkusen star escaped with minor injuries, sharing a video of the damaged vehicle on social media.
Despite the terrifying experience, Victor remains grateful for his safety, noting that life is what truly matters.
“I was having my childhood friend from Nigeria coming to visit. So we were supposed to pick them at the airport. I was sleeping, and my other friend was driving. When I woke up, we were already spinning three times. But we thank God, just a little scar on my forehead and stitches. The most important thing for me is life,” he explained.
