Kelechi Iheanacho delivered a masterclass performance on Friday evening, the kind that leaves fans screaming his name and opponents scratching their heads.
After weeks of silence, he found his spark—and this time, it came in explosive fashion, Footballrover reports.
But what exactly did he do at Ewood Park that stole the spotlight and sealed three points for Middlesbrough?
Kelechi Iheanacho starts fast and furious in Championship clash
Barely two minutes into their SkyBet Championship showdown with Blackburn, Middlesbrough made their intentions clear—and it all started with Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Nigerian international picked up the ball near the edge of the final third, slipped it smartly between two defenders, and found Tommy Conway.
The forward showed brilliant composure, turning his marker and firing home into the right corner to give Boro a dream start.
Just four minutes later, the 27-year-old forward was at it again.
This time, after patient build-up play by Burgzorg on the right, the ball was cut back to Iheanacho.
With defenders closing in, he laid it off to Samuel Iling-Junior, whose powerful strike took a wicked deflection before nestling inside the right post.
Whether the goal is officially credited to Iling-Junior or not, the assist belonged fully to Kelechi Iheanacho.
Two assists in four minutes that changed everything
With those two quick-fire assists in just four minutes, Iheanacho didn’t just contribute—he dictated the tempo of the match.
Middlesbrough never looked back after that early onslaught, maintaining control and seeing out a convincing 2-0 away win over Blackburn.
It’s now three goal contributions in two games for the on-loan Sevilla star, who also scored against Oxford United in their previous outing.
He nearly added his own name to the scoresheet in the 15th minute, finding space inside the box, but his shot sailed well wide of the target—his only misstep in an otherwise commanding display.
Despite both sides pushing for more in the second half, the damage was already done.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s first-half brilliance stood tall as the defining factor and reigniting hopes that the best version of the Nigerian forward could be back for good.
