The ex-Chelsea midfielder delivered an impressive performance, earning a rating of 8.4, which proved crucial in Al Ittihad’s successful away game at the King Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium in Makkah (Mecca).

Despite losing their captain, Benzema, to injury, Al-Ittihad maintained their position at the summit of the Saudi Pro League.

They secured a convincing 3-0 win against Al-Wehda on Monday night as Ighalo tastes first defeat with new teammates.

In the second half, goals from Romarinho, Jota, and Igor Coronado sealed the deal for the league leaders, Al-Ittihad.

The first half remained goalless, with both teams missing several chances to break the deadlock, despite Al Ittihad coming closest to scoring, but their attempts fell short.

After the break, Al-Wehda emerged stronger, creating a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, but the shot was saved, and another attempt was deflected for a corner.

The breakthrough for the visiting Al Ittihad side arrived in the 63rd minute, with their record goal scorer, Romarinho, unleashing a magnificent shot from the edge of the 18-yard box to give his team the lead.

It was Ngolo Kante, the former Chelsea star, who set up Romarinho’s goal just beyond the one-hour mark.

Jota, who entered the game as a substitute for Benzema in the first half, doubled the score four minutes later from a challenging angle.

While Al-Wehda fought hard to make a comeback, Igor Coronado sealed the victory and secured all three points in the 73rd minute with a powerful and precise shot that went through the legs of an Al Ittihad defender.
