Joseph Onoja late strike was all Rivers United needed to secure a hard-fought victory over Katsina United during their Nigeria Professional Football League game at Mohammedu Dikko stadium on Wednesday.
Coach Stanley Eguma made three changes to the team that defeated Lobi Stars 1-0 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Saturday.
Kazie Enyinnaya, Fabian Nworie, and Morice Chukwu were rested for the tie, therefore Chigozie Ihunda, Lookman Binuyo, and Temple Emekayi were brought in to replace them.

28 minutes into the match, a big penalty shout for Rivers United was heard around the stadium for a hand ball from Nyima’s header, but the Port Harcourt side were eventually denied.
With nine minutes gone, the hosts had a chance to grab the lead but missed the one-on-one opportunity as they failed to capitalize.
Both teams went into the halftime break goalless after a tense first half in a windy environment.
The visitors thought they’ve grabbed the lead five minutes into second half after Ishaq Kayode found the back of the net, but the officials were intimidated and they changed their minds after ten minutes.
The goal was disallowed after a lengthy delay, and the contest continued.
After nine more minutes were awarded, both teams continued their search for a winner, and seven minutes into extra time, Joseph Onoja gives Rivers United a well-deserved lead.
His goal was the game-winner, as the Pride of Rivers took all three points.

The result puts Stanley Eguma side four points clear at the top of the NPFL table, and they will be hoping to keep the momentum going when they face Enyimba on Monday.
