Kai Havertz, Chelsea forward, has sent an apology message to all Chelsea fans after the defending Champions were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.
Real Madrid did just enough to knock Chelsea out of the Champions League with a 5-4 aggregate win at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night. Karim Benzema stole the show once again.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team entered the match with the overwhelming advantage, having won the first leg 3-1 at Stamford Bridge thanks to a Benzema hat trick, and despite losing the second leg 3-2 to the Champions League winners, they advanced on aggregate.
In extra time, Benzema added to his Champions League heroics by running onto a clipped-in cross from Vinicius and beating Mendy with a header to send Real Madrid to the semifinals.

Chelsea did certainly live up to their full potential and demonstrated exactly who they are, although their final third was faulty.
The difference between the 210 minutes was the time it took to finish. The last goal of the thrilling, frenetic night at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu came from Karim Benzema’s 96th-minute header.
Havertz, 22, resorted to social media on Wednesday to apologize for the Blue’s inability to get it across the finish line.
He went on to say that he is proud with the team’s performance, but that the focus now is on the FA Cup semi-final.
βSorry we couldn’t get it over the line in the end. Very proud of the teams performance. Now onto the FA Cup semi-final.β – Kai Havertz wrote.
