62 minutes into the clash, the defender doubled his tally of the game after a converting a penalty awarded to the Wike Boys, making the final score line 2-0.
Shortly after the game, Chidiebube Gideon popularly known as Ebube Duru told Footballrover that he had been modeling his defense on Marcelo’s attacking style and Patrice Evra’s defensive strategy.
“Right from when I was very young, my role model has been Marcelo in terms of attacking, defence wise, I copy Patrice Evra. That’s why most times I watch Real Madrid games, because of Marcelo, not because they were winning but his style of play.” – he said.
The defender added that;
“I try to do more attacking, I see when Real Madrid attack, the way he [Marcelo] goes forward, the way he’s calm, the way he delivers his crosses and score goals. So I copy from him and I always want to do that even back in the days I was playing in amateur league before moving to NPFL.”
The Real Madrid legend – Marcelo enjoyed a 16-season stint at Real Madrid, during which time he managed to score 38 goals
The 34-year-old Brazilian won an astounding number of trophies, including six LaLiga championships, two Copa del Rey, five Spanish Super Cups, four Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups and five European Cups.
Ebube Duru now stands as Rivers United highest goal scorer, with three goals so far this season, as the Port Harcourt maintains tops of NPFL Group B standings.
