Rangers head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has expressed that their recent defeat against Remo Stars wasn’t disheartening for him.
Instead, he attributed their loss to bad luck. The Flying Antelopes were defeated by a narrow margin by Remo Stars at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday.
The Coal.City Boys took the lead in the eighth minute, thanks to Kazeem Ogunleye’s goal. However, Remo Stars made a comeback with goals from Seun Ogunribide and Sikiru Alimi.
Ilechukwu described the NPFL match as a great contest between both teams but noted that luck was not on their side that day.
He emphasized the need to address the challenges they identified and work towards achieving their goals.
While speaking to the club media, the coach noted that;
“This was not a sad loss for me but a great match displayed by both side with the much lucky side carrying the day. We go back home to work on the noticed challenges as we continue to push to realize our set targets.“
The Rangers coach highlighted their positive mindset entering the match and acknowledged that football involves victories and losses.
He remained optimistic about a strong recovery from this setback, considering it’s still early in the season.
“We were positive coming into this encounter but that is football for you. Win some, lose some. It is still early days and we hope to bounce back positively from this loss,” he stressed.
Rangers will now be warming up to face Niger Tornadoes in their third matchday at the Awka City Stadium on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Remo Stars will have fixtures rescheduled before visiting Bayelsa United after their game with Rivers United.
