Nigerian forward John Okoye Ebuka has continued his impressive form in the Egyptian Premier League as he found the back of the net for Cleopatra FC in their 1-1 draw against Al Mokawloon.
The 27-year-old’s goal proved crucial as it salvaged a point for his side in a fiercely contested match, Footballrover reports.
The match kicked off with both teams trading blows from the first whistle.
The home side thought they had stunned the visitors when Mohamed Salim found the net after just 27 minutes, but the goal was chalked off for offside.
Fifteen minutes later, Ebuka, the Nigerian sharpshooter, pounced on a sublime pass from El Armouty to give his side the lead heading into the interval.
But the battle was far from over, as the second period of the game had a different story.
Ugandan ace Joackiam Ojera levelled the scores for Al Mokawloon barely a minute after the restart.
The goal injected new life into the game, but despite Cleopatra dominating possession and creating numerous chances, neither team could find a winner.
Cleopatra finished the game with a whopping 67% of the ball and unleashed a barrage of 11 shots, but only three were on target.
It was a frustrating afternoon for the visitors, who will rue their missed opportunities.
Meanwhile, four Nigerians featured in the encounter.
Ebuka started for Cleopatra but was replaced by Ahmed Rayan in the 54th minute.
Favour Akem and Samuel Amadi also made appearances for Cleopatra in the second half, while Adeboye Ifeoluwa came on for Al Mokawloon, but none could change the outcome of the game.

However, the draw leaves Cleopatra comfortably in 8th place with 45 points, a healthy 20-point cushion over their relegation-threatened opponents.
Next up for Ebuka and his teammates is a League Cup playoff clash against El Gaish at the Alexandria Stadium on Wednesday, as they hope to bounce back from this disappointment and secure a place in the next round.
